Andrea Kennedy, LMT has an extensive background in massage and a vast knowledge in many other healing arts. Andrea's formal training began in 1998 at Brenneke School of Massage in Seattle, WA. There her love and deep need for helping people was cultivated and nourished into a crafted art of body work. As a beautiful side gift, Andrea was now beginning a personal health path that would ultimately heal her from her own chronic stress and illness. While in massage school, Andrea was introduced to pregnancy massage. As she had a nephew soon to be born, Andrea wanted to learn everything possible to do with birth. She attended Seattle Midwifery School in the spring of 1999, to become a Birth Doula. Upon graduating massage school in August 1999, she moved to Spokane to be closer to her newborn Nephew and to open a private practice, devoted to offering massage, at a reasonable rate, to her new community. These early years of massaging at 205 W. Indiana Ave allowed her to become a skilled body worker with a tailored commitment to each individual’s mind body soul. Because of her compassion, experience and intuition, she gained a solid and loyal client base, many of whom are still seeing her regularly, 18 years later. Her passion for working with all people has afforded her the opportunity to treat everyone from infants to the elderly.
In 2005, Andrea relocated her practice downtown and joined the Main Touch Wellness Center. During this time, she married and was blessed with her own amazing home birth experience with her first daughter. In 2008, to better focus on her growing family, Andrea shifted her practice to a beautiful space in her private residence where she felt more capable to serve her new family, and her patients as well. After the home waterbirth of her second daughter in 2009, Andrea continued working part time and was thankful to have a clientele she trusted to have in her home during this vulnerable time.
Beginning in 2011, Andrea began teaching Anatomy & Physiology at the American Institute for Clinical Massage in Post Falls, ID. In 2012, Andrea was asked to design the curriculum and teach the Medical Massage program for AiCM. She currently teaches A&P, Kinesiology, Medical Massage, Business, Insurance Billing, Ethics, and SOAP Charting. Teaching the next generation of massage therapists has changed Andrea’s practice for the better. It has not only given her more knowledge of anatomy & physiology, but has really pushed her to ask and answer the hard questions of how we heal - and why we sometimes don’t. Educating others has been truly like finding another one of her deep authentic callings. In addition to teaching prospective massage therapists, Andrea is currently designing a set of Continuing Eduction classes for currently licensed massage therapists. Her National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) CEU Educator # is currently being issued and Andrea expects to be teaching continuing education in the fall of 2018.
Autumn of 2014 brought more changes and Andrea’s Mother-in-Law was invited to spend her last days living and being taken care of by The Kennedy Family. The room that was being used for massage needed to be used for Elder Care. Synchronicities happen, and a treatment room was available to share, at Second Ave Healing Arts. This is the current home of Andrea’s business, Insightful Touch.
In her life, Andrea walks her talk. She makes self-care a priority. Meditation, massage, journaling, breath work, walking and yoga are important ways Andrea cares for herself. Deep connection to her inner authenticity keeps her joy-filled and able to access radiance. This year, marks 19 years that Andrea has been serving her community with her gifts. She would love to help you find your connection back to yourself.
